Bronco Bullfrog
AroView: Working-class teenage life in late sixties London is uniquely captured in this drama, centred around a 17-year-old who finds himself in a runaway romance after plotting a robbery with his mischievous friends.
Inspired by the tradition of ‘kitchen sink’ realism of the 50’s and early 60’s, the emphasis is less on narrative than depicting a subculture, with a cast with non-actors plucked from the streets of the East End. Following Private Road, it’s the first of two authentically independent features made by a then 25-year-old Barney Platts-Mills.
