Highway Patrolman

1h 44m Drama, Crime, Comedy 1991

Restored version of cult director Alex Cox’s Spanish-language road movie tale of poverty, drugs, prostitution and rampant police corruption.

Against his father’s wishes, a naive kid from Mexico City joins the Federal Highway Patrol. His simple desire to do good rapidly comes into conflict with the reality of police work in a lonely rural environment populated by poor farmers, rich drug dealers, beautiful women, and his father’s ghost.

“More than anything, it is a character study of a contemporary naif with decent human impulses and vague aspirations toward noble service who is driven to the edge by the grubby realities he is forced to accept.” ~New York Times

“Maverick director Alex Cox’s finest film to Date” ~Los Angeles Times
