AroView: The awkwardness of adolescence is authentically captured in this Scottish classic from writer-director Bill Forsyth (Local Hero), presented here in a newly remastered print from the BFI.
John Gordon Sinclair plays a gangly teen who falls hard for a hotshot female player (Dee Hepburn) who has joined his struggling football team. Prodded by the advice of his hilariously precocious 10-year-old sister, he makes his move, but it soon becomes clear he’s at the mercy of female conspiracy.
Notable for co-starring Clare Grogan, who would go on to be an 80’s pop star as the singer in the chart-topping new wave band, Altered Images.
