AroView: An exhilarating science fiction thriller that lavishly realizes (and embellishes) a Philip K. Dick short story with the corporate muscle and directing virtuosity of Steven Spielberg.
Tom Cruise is effectively cast as a bereaved law enforcer who finds himself on the receiving end of a revolutionary crime-fighting system that can anticipate crimes before they are committed. Extensive research lends the production and the improbable premise a grimly believable future landscape where exploitation, surveillance and consumerism have reached critical mass. Though the final act rescinds to Hollywood formula, this is the kind of 21st century film-making that shows the state of the artform is fast catching up with the imagination.
