Edge of Tomorrow
AroView: Tom Cruise plays a reluctant futuristic solider who gets caught in a time loop and is forced to repeat his death on the battlefield until victory against a tentacled alien army prevails.
Saturated in CGI effects, this doesn’t skimp on kick-ass action, and has a time-travel-as-a-weapon twist that is ludicrous yet intriguingly original. A cut above as sci-fi blockbusters go, though not likely to dazzle those with an aversion to gung-ho sound and fury.
