Blade Runner: The Director's Cut

1h 57m Sci-Fi, Thriller 1982

AroView: This sci-fi neo-noir classic could be accused of being an exercise in style over substance, but what style! A work of towering imagination and extraordinary beauty, with cool dudes Harrison Ford and Rutger Hauer battling it out in a designer-decadent L.A. of 2020. Based on the novel by Phillip K. Dick, Ford plays “blade runner” Rick Deckard who stalks genetically made criminal replicants who want to be human.

This DIRECTOR’S CUT omits Deckard’s voice narration, develops in slightly greater detail the romance between Deckard and Rachael and removes the “uplifting” finale. The result is a heightened emotional impact: a great film made greater. Most intriguing of all is a newly included unicorn vision that suggests that Deckard may be a humanoid. Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? Is Deckard a replicant?
