Of Horses and Men
The debut film from Icelandic director Benedikt Erlingsson (Woman at War) is an extraordinary tale exploring the timeless relationship between human and horse.
It’s the story of Kolbeinn, a man of the land, who is in love with Solveig. With an open heart she returns his love and admiration, but must understand that Kolbeinn is staunchly dedicated to his prized possession and darling, the mare Grána, who is in turn obsessed with the mighty stallion, Brúnn.
Love and death become interlaced with immense consequences for the whole community as we follow the fortunes of the townsfolk through the horses’ wide-eyed perception in Of Horses and Men.
“Flabbergasting images and a delightfully dry sense of humor make Of Horses and Men a debut worthy of celebration.” ~Jay Weissberg, Variety
