Titane

AroView: A transgressive, ambitious masterwork from French writer/director Julia Ducournau (“Raw”) about a sociopathic car-crash survivor who finds a sanctuary of sorts in the most unlikely place and circumstances.

Though not for the faint of heart, this is a sensational film full of iron-forged set pieces that burn with passion, fury and cinematic craft, and that soon takes a detour from its explicitly violent set-up to explore a tender, emotionally complex relationship between two damaged human beings who share a complicated co-dependency. Played with astonishing commitment by Agathe Rousselle and Vincent Lindon, the film is also exceptional as a statement on gender identity and the nature of love.
