AroView: Celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year, it’s aesthetic influence on other ‘folk horrors’ and other arts in the realm of English gothic can’t be underestimated, but this towers above with an insidious glee and sustained tension as a thriller, and its astute, subversive commentary about human belief systems and sexual mores inspired by the counter-cultural movement of the previous decade. Oh, and it is quite something as a musical as well!
