The Topp Twins: Untouchable Girls
An adorable, “Kiwi-as” portrait of NZ’s beloved folk-singing comedy duo, Jools and Lynda Topp, which also resonates as a ripely entertaining look back at three decades of cultural change.
Fittingly structured around a specially-staged concert performance, the Topps frankly shade in details of their life story and iconic career with generous servings of their musical repertoire and big-hearted humour, while not shying away from issues such as their lesbian relationships, politics and Jools’ fight with cancer. To know them is to love them, so perhaps unsurprisingly, this was tops at the local box-office.
