In 1950s Mexico City, William Lee (Daniel Craig), an American ex-pat in his late forties, leads a solitary life amidst a small American community. The arrival in town of Eugene Allerton, a young student, stirs William into finally establishing a meaningful connection with someone. Based on the novella by William S. Burroughs.
“Luca Guadagnino meets William S. Burroughs on the iconoclast’s own slippery terms and the result is mesmerizing.” ~David Rooney, The Hollywood Reporter
“Queer doesn’t scrimp on provocation and pleasure, but it’s also a beautiful film about male loneliness, and the way a solitary life can so easily shade into a life sentence.” ~Robbie Collin, The Telegraph
“It’s as rewarding as it is challenging.” ~Alexander Harrison, Screen Rant
