A true icon of Australian cinema, David Gulpilil Ridjimiraril Dalaithngu’s mesmerising, electrifying presence leapt off the big screen and changed Australian screen representation forever. Early in 2017, Gulpilil was diagnosed with lung cancer. His doctors estimated he had six months left to live, but David was always likely to defy the odds. He has since passed away after this film was released, on the 29th of November, 2021.
