Mickey Rourke leads an all-star cast as a career criminal who has been deformed since birth. Given a new handsome face he is paroled from prison and appears to have gone straight, only to plot vengeance upon his double-crossers.
“This is a movie in the true tradition of film noir…” ~Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times
“Because Johnny Handsome is a film by Walter Hill, it crams the following things into its first five minutes: gunfire, screeching brakes, a drug-popping hoodlum, a moll in black leather, a violent robbery, one murder, sinister masks, shattering glass. But because this is Mr. Hill’s work, these ingredients are slapped together with high style.” ~Janet Maslin, The New York Times
