Holy Smoke
AroView: An adventurous attempt to fuse psychological thriller, broad caricature and Eastern spirituality has guru-besotted Kate Winslet being lured from India by her loopy Australian family then handed over to cult-deprogrammer Harvey Keitel. Closest to SWEETIE out of Campion’s other films, this has a similarly strong visual component that loosely binds the material, however some will find the subject-matter’s potential unfulfilled, with its tone of ‘serious’ self-satire going largely awry.
