Dennis Christopher gives a brilliantly bonkers performance as a shy and tormented film nerd who finds himself dispatching his cruel tormentors in the style of his various film heroes. Set in the bustling L.A. film distribution business before the dawn of the home video revolution, it’s also a vivid time capsule of a bygone era in the city of dreams. And like any B-movie worthy of the term ‘cult’, it has several scenes that are worth the price of admission, including one with a baby-faced Mickey Rourke.
