AroView: A ripely entertaining period comedy that puts a contemporary spin on the tropes of the British historical romance to tell a tall tale of female emancipation through literacy.

Nicholas Galitzine fits the bill as a heartthrob lothario entrusted to take care of his good friend’s wife (Maika Monroe) whose marriage remains unconsummated. The sexual tension is hilariously teased out, while in the wings is the unassuming wisdom and sensuality of a housemaid called Hero (Emma Corrin), who offers distractions of storytelling. Adapted from a graphic novel inspired by the Arabian folktale 1001 Nights, and featuring pop star Charli XCX among the cast, this will appeal to a spectrum of tastes both in the bedroom and in the viewing room.
