AroView: Ferociously funny action comedy from actor-director Ben Stiller, following a group of pretentious actors on a mission to create the biggest budget war film ever, until they find themselves engaged in real-life combat.
The premise is a cracker and the characters are a scream; Stiller as a washed-up action hero looking for critical acclaim, Jack Black as a low-brow, drug-addled comedian, and especially Robert Downey Jnr., unrecognizably brilliant as an Australian thespian who is method acting as an African-American(!). Also memorable and well-cast are Tom Cruise as a grotesque Hollywood producer, and Matthew McConaughey as a smarmy, opportunistic agent.
