Three Kings
AroView: A refreshingly irreverent view of the US Military translated into a box-office hit for this unpredictable black-comedy that puts a subversive spin on just about every ‘army-movie’ cliché around.
Set in the aftermath of the Gulf War, three soldiers get wind of a secret stash of Kuwaiti gold bullion and go AWOL to ‘win’ themselves some war-booty. Story takes many satisying twists and turns, with writer/director David O. Russell creating rounded characters and, intelligently, never taking lightly the grim realities of this particular conflict.
