The Pā Boys
AroView: A small, nicely formed road movie following a three-piece Wellington reggae band as they tour the North Island. At its heart a celebration of tangata whenua, this also nicely complements MT. ZION as a contemporary spin on Māori-reggae roots.
With music by Trinity Roots’ Warren Maxwell, this is a spirited debut feature from Himiona Grace, son of writer Patricia Grace (COUSINS).
Synopsis: Danny, who has been adopted, has no understanding of his roots, and amongst the members of his band, this makes him an outsider. While touring the country, he struggles to understand the importance of his heritage while also struggling with the presence of his ex-wife on the road.
