The Nightingale
AroView: Gentle drama that draws together an elderly farmer and his spoiled urban grand-daughter on a lengthy pilgrimage through beautiful Southwest China with a caged bird in tow. The project started out as a Chinese-language remake of director Philippe Muyl’s own THE BUTTERFLY (2002) before evolving into an original screenplay.
“Lush technical values, an engaging turn from its lead and some contextual relevance to Chinese society keeps the film from dwelling on its much-performed tune.” ~ Hollywood Reporter.
