AroView: 1970’s familial dysfunction observed through a 1990’s prism, Kevin Kline and Sigourney Weaver are among the adults having mid-life trauma in the post sex-revolution, pre-AIDS era of toe-socks, macrame pot-holders and Deep Throat.
A coming-of-age perspective completes director Ang Lee’s comic-bleak portrait, and though not quite as weighty as the title might suggest, it’s calmly superior adult fare.
