The Changeling

After the death of his wife and daughter in a car crash, a music professor staying at an old mansion is dragged into a decades-old murder of a child by an inexplicable presence in the mansion’s attic.

AroView: An impeccably crafted ghost story that demands to be taken seriously, not least because of the dignified casting of George C. Scott as a recently widowed music lecturer/composer who is spoken to by a child from beyond the grave. The intuitive use of wide angles, tracking shots, discreet lighting and a dream ‘haunted house’ set gives palpably creepy service to a script that also pays off as much as it promises.
