Set in the French capital’s 13th arrondissement, on the left bank of the Seine, Jacques Audiard’s film charts the interwoven relationships between four twenty-somethings, beautifully played by Lucie Zhang, Makita Samba, Savages lead singer Jehnny Beth and Noémie Merlant from Portrait of a Lady on Fire, and co-written by that film’s director, Céline Sciamma.
Paris, 13th District (aka Les Olympiades, Paris 13e) is a modern story of love and life, reflecting the shifting attitudes towards identity and fidelity.
“If you’re looking for a couple of hours of sexy Parisians hooking up, falling out and finding their feet again, all set to pulsing electro and with a baked-in romanticism that makes a built-up corner of Paris feel like Casablanca, Audiard and his co-writers have made the perfect film.” ~Phil de Semlyen, Time Out
“This foursome’s lives intersect in consistently thrilling and surprising ways…” ~Robbie Collin, The Telegraph
“This is a connoisseur date movie.” ~Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian
