Garth Maxwell and Peter Wells’ deeply personal ode to friend, fashionista and foot-fetishist Doug George who narrates the story of how high heels saved his life.

The featurette was recently picked up by MoMA as part of its permanent film collection, with film curator Ron Magliozzi dubbing it a “witty testimony to the durable, liberating spirit of a queer perspective”.

Garth Maxwell’s first film was a collaboration with childhood friend and filmmaker Simon Maitland Marler, and was inspired by Kafka’s Metamorphosis. An experiment to create mood through image manipulation, they reshot Super-8 slow-mo, backwards and in freeze frame. Soundtrack by Greg Brice.
