Midnight Oil: The Hardest Line

1h 45m Documentary, Music 2024
NZIFF2024

AroView: Across a 45-year career, this is the definitive story of the iconic Australian rock band who found great success on their own terms, and whose refusal to compromise their integrity is right there in the title.

Outside of the music and their stunning live shows, they were famously political and forceful in drawing attention to the gross injustices against First Nation Australians, with their imposing front-man Peter Garrett walking the walk as a member of parliament for nearly a decade. The Oils may be legend, but it’s Garrett who comes across here as a national treasure.
