Je t'aime moi non plus
Named after his famously raunchy hit single in the late ‘60s, Serge Gainsbourg wrote, directed and scored this typically idiosyncratic and confronting drama, starring his then-wife, Jane Birkin, and Andy Warhol alumnus, Joe Dallesandro.
Birkin plays petite waitress Johnny, who works and lives in a truck-stop, where she’s lonely and longs for love. She develops a crush on the garbage truck driver Krassky (Dallesandro), although her sleazy boss Boris warns her that he’s gay. Maybe because of her boyish looks, Krassky likes her too. Both don’t notice the growing jealousy of Krassky’s boyfriend Padovan - until an escalation.
The title translates to I Love You, Me Neither.
