AroView: A French drama par excellence about a young man trying to find his place between his upper-middle class family milieu and his first job as a building labourer.

He becomes fixated on a fellow worker from the Ukraine – a kind, charismatic figure who inspires both a latent sexual curiosity and portal to another troubled region not consumed with first world problems. Fans of Call Me By Your Name will be smitten, but beyond the sun-scorched trappings of the gay-curious coming-of-age film, this offers dimension and intrigue as social commentary, and as an all-too-rare drama about the platonic sensitivities of men. The late, lauded director Laurent Cantet (The Class, 2008) passed the project on to his co-writer Robin Campillo (BPM, 2017), who does his mentor proud.

“Another powerful, absorbing picture from Campillo and a fitting swan song for Laurent Cantet.” ~Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian

“The ambiguous subtext proves infinitely more fascinating, leaving everyone who sees it with a different interpretation.” ~Peter Debruge, Variety

“A beautiful third act reveals the mystery and pain of a boy seeking his place in the world.” ~Zhuo-Ning Su, The Film Stage
