AroView: A polished, bittersweet comedy about a family of Pakistani Brits living in 1970s Manchester, headed by a traditionalist patriarch whose keen to make haste with wedding ‘arrangements’ for his five British-born sons.
Based on the stageplay by Ayub Khan-Din, it tackles serious issues of racism, cultural identity crisis and the ‘generation gap’ with great empathy, bubbly humour and a lightness of touch, while being a model of storytelling efficiency. Winner of a British Academy Award for Best Picture.
