Blood and Black Lace

1h 29m Horror, Thriller, Giallo 1964

AroView: A landmark Italian horror film from director Mario Bava in which a masked killer runs amok in a Roman fashion house while trying to retrieve a scandal-revealing diary.

The director spices up the Agatha Christie murder-mystery template with orchestrated violent set pieces and a lurid eroticism enhanced by striking set design and a luminous colour palette. Regarded as a key film in the evolution of the thriller genre in cinema, influencing practitioners Brian De Palma, Pedro Almodóvar and especially Dario Argento and the Italian thriller genre known as giallo.
