When the Cows Come Home

1h 44m Documentary 2022
NZIFF2022

AroView: A graceful and rewarding documentary about a Waikato cattle farmer that may change your perception about the beauty and intelligence of cows. It’s a little slice of Kiwi bliss, and I’m not saying that just because the said farmer, Andrew Johnstone, happens to be a great supporter of AroVision, but rather that he is a wise, open and complicated subject, and because director Costa Botes’ storytelling instincts shine through like the late Cambridge sun. Bravo, fellas!

“Botes is a skilled and experienced documentarian, and the film is beautifully shot, impressively structured, insightful and touching without being exploitative or manipulative, and dare I say it, inspirational.” ~Jeremy Quinn, Otago Daily Times
