The routine plot is overcome by the breath-taking aviation sequences and some rousing 80s pop, while Kelly McGillis smoulders as the civilian instructor who shows Mav the romantic ropes.

Apparently United States Navy recruiting booths were actually set up at some theaters during the initial release!
