The Wrecking Crew

1h 41m Documentary, Music 2014

AroView: Joyous celebration of the musical work of a loose collective of session musicians that became later known as “The Wrecking Crew”, a band that provided versatile back-up instrumentals to hundreds of hit records and came to define the West Coast pop sound of the 1960’s.

An intimate and insightful portrait directed and narrated by the son of the group’s guitar supremo Tommy Tedesco, this rounds up Brian Wilson, Herb Alpert, Cher, Nancy Sinatra, Mickey Dolenz and the Crew’s very own Glen Campbell to represent a huge roster of legendary recording artists that also included Frank Sinatra, The Byrds, The Righteous Brothers, The Mamas & The Papas, Elvis, Dean Martin, Phil Spector and Henry Mancini.

Note: The film was completed in 2008, but took another six years to clear a plethora of music rights.

“Though their story has taken decades to reach the screen, it has been worth the wait.” ~KENNETH TURAN, LA TIMES
