AroView: A mischievous Hollywood comedy classic that has a blast poking fun at small town conservatism.
Cher, Susan Sarandon and Michelle Pfeiffer are in full bloom as the sexually stifled women of Eastwick, and Jack Nicholson at peak confidence and celebrity as a diabolical lothario who bends them all to his will with the raise of an eyebrow and some ol’ black magic.
It’s all very non-diverse, but has otherwise dated very well as a battle-of-the-sexes comedy, with terrific support from Veronica Cartwright as the God-fearing moral crusader, and Richard Jenkins as her mild-mannered husband. At once outrageous and delightful, it’s territory the likes of Tim Burton would soon take to the next level.
