The Salt Path
1h 55m Drama 2024

AroView: Gillian Anderson and Jason Isaacs play down their seasoned star status as an ordinary long-married couple who cope with the trauma of losing their home by embarking on a year-long trek along the South West British coastline.

Based on the best-selling memoir by Raynor Winn, her life-affirming story asserts the healing power of nature, though both the book and film have come into subsequent controversy for playing loose with the facts they are supposedly based on. But exaggerations aside, the film starts with a limp but soon finds its stride as an involving relationship drama and great outdoors escapism that just might inspire you to get ‘salted’ yourself.

The Salt Path is probably the best film I’ve seen this year. It is a simple story, well written and performed, and staged with some robust beauty.” ~Graeme Tuckett, Stuff

“The film’s authenticity in portraying the challenges of the hike and the couple’s resilience is commendable.” ~Daniel Hart, Ready Steady Cut

“A tale of desperate penury that offers famous faces, gorgeous scenery and artful uplift, made to be seen in a boutique cinema.” ~Danny Leigh, Financial Times
