Director Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest is a hugely impressive, pertinent and entertaining political thriller that is arguably his finest achievement.
Leonardo DiCaprio plays a washed-up revolutionary who ekes out an existence in a frenzy of drugs and constant paranoia. One of the few constants in his life, far removed from society, is his spirited, independent daughter (Chase Infiniti). When his arch-enemy (Sean Penn) suddenly reappears after 16 years and his daughter disappears, the former activist desperately searches for her and faces the consequences of his past actions.
