Living in Oblivion

AroView: Perhaps the quintessential 90s “indie film”, this is a deliriously cheeky backhander aimed at various icons of the independent DIY film-making scene.

The great Steve Buscemi plays a harried film director coping with prima donnas, wannabe actors, hostile crew members, a secret crush, and his own cliched ideas. With Catherine Keener, Dermot Mulroney, James LeGros and Peter Dinklage along for the ride, this is a treat from start to finish.

It was the second film directed by Tom DiCillo, who had previously given Brad Pitt his leading debut in Johnny Suede (1991), and shot several of Jim Jarmusch’s early features.
