AroView: A documentary very close to our heart, this is the remarkable story of the legendary independent video store in New York City that in 2008 donated and shipped its entire coveted 55,000-title collection to Sicily as part of a (doomed) village restoration project.
It’s a playful and poignant investigation-turned-intervention that comes shipped with a wealth of movie clips, interviews with former staff and, surprisingly, even access to the stores’ eccentric owner, Yongman Kim, a Korean immigrant who started in the laundry business and ended up making arthouse vanity projects himself.
“Kim’s Video is so delightful because Redmon and Sabin have taken a subject that might have led to wistful dead ends and follow it through to such an extent that they wound up with a gold mine of material and a documentary that plays like a bold narrative feature.” ~TheWrap
“A rollicking tale of the inextricable bonds between life and art, and the value of ensuring that the latter remains preserved for future generations.” ~Nick Schager, The Daily Beast
“A story that plays out like a low-budget caper, replete with corruption, slippery personalities, missing cash and one actual robbery.” ~Jordan Mintzer, Hollywood Reporter
