Frances Ha
AroView: Greta Gerwig stars as a struggling dancer at the tail end of her adolescence in this semi-improvised Manhattan indie rom-com, inspired by the French new wave and mid-period Woody Allen.
Adorned with hip cameos and references, and easy-cheesy pop songs, Gerwig is a charming presence and, through her own part in devising the script, has a good grasp on her 27-year-old character’s arrested development.
