AroView: Successfully expanded from an Oscar-nominated animated short, this quite extra-ordinary fable pits nine thumb-sized creations against a post-apocalyptic world dominated by machines.
Beautifully rendered in earthy hues and refreshingly downbeat in tone, dir. Acker’s stylized and fastidious early work attracted producers Tim Burton and Russian hot-shot Timur Bekmambetov (NIGHT WATCH) to elevate this to the ‘next level’. The result is worthy of both mentors - it’s one for intelligent youngsters to savour and indeed those who appreciate a particular kind of sci-fi aesthetic.
