White Riot

1h 20m Documentary 2020

AroView: A frighteningly still-relevant documentary about “Rock Against Racism” (RAR), a movement that was formed in 1976, as a result of a far-right political uprising and famously controversial comments made by Eric Clapton.

Blending fresh interviews with archive footage, the film recreates the hostile environment of anti-immigrant hysteria and National Front marches, and the RAR response which engaged bands like Steel Pulse, The Tom Robinson Band and The Clash, whose iconic song provides the film’s title.

“An excellent brief documentary about a heroic grassroots political movement whose importance reveals itself more clearly in retrospect with every year that passes.” ~ Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian.
