Depp plays a young man caring for his mentally disabled brother and his morbidly obese mother, who is suddenly challenged when love walks into his life in the form of Juliette Lewis.

This ballad of the dysfunctional Grape family is beautifully evoked, and notable especially for DiCaprio’s remarkable adolescent method-acting. A true gem that is well worth revisiting.
