The Song Keepers

Documentary 1h 24m 2017

AroView: A passionate documentary about the Central Australian Aboriginal Women’s Choir, centered around their wildly successful tour of Germany in 2015. The choir sings 4th Century German Lutheran hymns that were taught to Aboriginal communities by German missionaries, translating them into the Arrarnta and Pitjantjatjara languages and re-making this fascinating historical music on their own unique terms.

“A rousing, feel good film tempered with just enough grit and complexity to leave the viewer in a thoughtful mood afterwards” ~ Travis Johnson, FilmInk.
