The Machinist
AroView: A mind-twisting thriller in the industrial-gothic mould, this might at times feel like an off-cut from the Lynch-Cronenberg-Fincher production line, but it holds its own enough to still be a must-see for fans of the genre.
Christian Bale goes all out to portrayal a squeamishly skeletal blue-collar worker who finds himself immersed on a Kafka-esque treadmill of isolation, hallucination, and industrial accidents. Fitted with a strong overall premise, this works to a satisfying twist even if it refuses to unravel its enigma until it chalks up a feature-length running time.
