The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King

AroView: Peter Jackson’s adaptation of J R R Tolkien’s fantasy trilogy of ‘Middle Earth’ reaches its spectacular climax, drawing the story-threads together into a grand showdown between good and evil outside the gates of Mordor.

While hobbits Frodo and Sam (Wood and Astin) struggle towards Mount Doom under the baleful influence of Gollum, the clashing armies of Gondor and Mordor provide the film’s most spectacular sequences. Pulling out all the stops, these ferocious scenes are both kinetically exciting and an impressive technical feat. Storylines involving the rise of (King) Aragorn, the fall of Gondor’s crazed steward, and the other hobbits, finally coalesce into a series of epilogues, which while protracted, provide the necessary closure to the 10-hour saga.
