Midnight Family
In Mexico City’s wealthiest neighbourhoods, the working class Ochoa family run a private ambulance, competing with other for-profit EMTs for patients in need of urgent help.
This compassionate documentary observes the family as they race against other private ambulances to reach accidents in the hopes of making enough money to survive. The voices and stories of patients, hospital staff and police are also incorporated. A highly unique and illuminating film about a broken healthcare system.
“A thrilling, subjective, portrait of one family’s attempts to navigate the corrupt economy of emergency health care, while also providing much-needed services for a city desperately in need of EMTs.” ~ The Playlist.
