Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1

Family, Adventure, Fantasy 2h 26m 2010

Harry, Ron and Hermione set out on their perilous mission to track down and destroy the secret to Voldemort’s immortality and destruction of the Horcruxes. On their own and on the run, the three friends must now rely on one another more than ever but Dark Forces in their midst threaten to tear them apart.

Aroview: Seventh and penultimate film in the J.K. Rowling-penned franchise now finds Harry and pals Ron and Hermione on the lam as Lord Voldemort extends his tyranny over England while plotting the boy wizard’s murder.

With the epic tale now drawing to a close, this is a noticably darker and prolonged (adapting the final novel, the filmmakers have split it into two parts), if still urgent fantasy sweep that will have Potterphiles gripping their seats. Faithful to a tee, our only complaint is the lack of any real payoff – in its place, a lot of teenage angst and navel-gazing, it has to be said – and the agonsing wait for the concluding installment!
