The Notebook
AroView: An old-fashioned weepie set in a coastal town in 1940’s North Carolina, this nostalgic “woman’s picture”, based on the best-selling novel by Nicholas Sparks, finds a sure-footed romantic tone but is likely too sentimental for some.
Framed by the reading of a notebook, its pages reveal how over the course of a summer, a wealthy debutante fell in love with a humble mill worker, only to be driven apart by the outbreak of World War II. By the time war is over, fate has furnished them with separate destinies but brought them back to the same town to reconcile their wounded hearts.
