The Big Lebowski
AroView: Rolling another warped vision down the gutter, the inscrutable minds of the Coen Brothers (FARGO, RAISING ARIZONA) endow this bowling comedy with their characteristically dark buffoonery, hauling slow-mo 70s ‘survivor’ Jeff Bridges into a kidnapping plot with fellow ten-pinner John Goodman.
Perhaps too shaggy-dog for some (not to mention the hairstyles), this has nevertheless become a much-adored cult classic, while the great soundtrack and design agreeably evoke the mental twilight of a stagnant ‘feel-good’ L.A.
