Notting Hill
AroView: Divorced book merchant Hugh Grant falls in love with a customer who happens to be the world’s most famous movie star (Julia Roberts, yes, essentially playing herself).
Both actors do what they do best in a tailor-made script by Richard Curtis, who tenders the same polished wit and off-beat sidekick characters that distinguished his FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL. If it doesn’t quite attain the dizzy heights of its predecessor, it’s still undoubtedly the most charming vehicle for Julia Roberts since PRETTY WOMAN.
