Jimmy Barnes: Working Class Boy
AroView: Gracious documentary about the iconic rock’n’roll icon Jimmy Barnes, focusing on his early life in Glasgow before moving to Australia and joining Cold Chisel. Based on Barnes’ 2016 memoir of the same name, this is an unflinching story of a traumatic childhood characterised by violence and dysfunction, told in his own refreshingly unadorned words.
The film also intersperses musical performances from a specially staged concert, accompanied by his children Mahalia Barnes and David Campbell, as well as his brother-in-law, Diesel.
“Rips the top off the myth of the hard-boozing Aussie rocker to show the pain and trauma underneath.” ~FILMINK
